Bartram Trail at Mandarin High School Football

Rain did not dampen the crowd spirit for the Kickoff Classic game pitting the Bartram Trail Bears against the Mandarin Mustangs. The visiting Bears prevailed 16-0 at the Mustangs home field, both teams having problems with fumbles and turnovers.

JCP Hosts "Dog Day Afternoon"

Back by popular demand, JCP CARES hosted their annual “Dog Day Afternoon,” a fundraiser to benefit Goliath and Bebe’s World, a no kill shelter in St. Johns County that fosters the pets as opposed to caging them prior to adoption. The event featured pet adoptions, dog washes, pet-i-cures, pet photos, pet massages, a bounce house for the kids as well as contest and games for pets and their owners. The St. Johns Sheriff's Department also staged a K-9 demonstration and "Doga," a class for Yoga with dogs and owners was held.

OKTOBERFEST @ St. Augustine Pier

It poured rain all the way from my house to St. Augustine. Fortunately it was clear and cooled things down a bit. This was the first Oktoberfest for the beach and they did a fantastic job. I love my group from the St. Augustine Amphitheatre, and they, along with Folio Weekly, let us sample over 80 beers, listen to German music, engulf delicious food, and just party!!! It was a little dark, but that is because it is turtle season (a cause I have been involved with), but it did not damper the mood at all.
