Artrageous Art Walk in Amelia Island
6 albums
Although we had rain storms all day, I was able to enjoy a dog show in St. Augustine and a Art Walk in Amelia Island. The art walk was quieter than usual tonight because of the weather and sports, but the artist and owners were there. I had the opportunity to spend some time and made new friends. After exploring some of the shops, I venture into a few of the local coffee shops and taverns, all offering live music. This is a wonderful island, a get away from the normal hustle and bustle. The ones I visited do not allow smoking, but have outside sitting areas. It is a very quaint town that I will soon be visiting again.
On the second Saturday of every month, Amelia Island holds the Artrageous Artwalk. These exciting events are free to the public and include 13 of Amelia Island's incredible art galleries. The Artwalks showcase a wide array of fine art, including photography, pottery, copper, metal, stained glass, watercolors, acrylics and more. Visitors also have the opportunity to meet and mingle with the artists behind the work.http://www.ameliaisland.org/app/webroot/art/.

Creekside vs. Mandarin
6 albums
In an emotional game, Creekside was able to hang on to a game-long lead and gain a victory over Mandarin, 24-21. This Duval-St. Johns county clash was well attended by fans of both teams and is likely to become a cross county rivalry.
It poured all the way to St. Augustine, but as soon as I arrived to the Pier, the storms were gone. It was a great day for taking pictures of dogs.Good Dog' Fashion Show was held at St. Augustine Beach as a part of the Family Surf Experience. All Proceeds from this Fashion Show go to S.A.F.E. a local, all volunteer, animal adoption organization. Some local restaurants were there selling food and drinks. All the dog were very welled behaved. Raffles and live music was also a part of the festivities. Believe it or not, the rain started pouring again, right after the show. 2009 Wildflower Clinic Ball Fundraiser
6 albums
Good Samaritan Health Centers of St. Augustine held a Wildflower Ball fundraiser. There was a silent auction, a wonderful dinner catered by Valerie Kline, a live auction by Mayor Joe Boles, and awesome entertainment by Tim Rippey. This is an annual event and the people were some of the friendliest I have met. We also signed a couple of boards that will be used as part of a major support beam for the clinic. For the past 11 years, Good Samaritan Health Centers in St. Augustine has quietly reached out to our area's poorest residents by offering them free medical care, dental care and health education. They currently operate four clinics: a twice weekly medical clinic at 39 Lovett Street; a monthly Pap smear clinic at 39 Lovett Street; a monthly dental clinic, held at the St. Johns County Health Department; and the Healthy Lifestyles Clinic, a health education clinic located at 676 Christopher Street. All clinics are staffed by local volunteer physicians, dentists, nurses and clerical personnel. In response to the growing needs of our community, Good Samaritan Health Centers is seeking to increase their services by constructing the "Wildflower Clinic," a medical/dental facility, in West Augustine on land donated by Mount Moriah Christian Ministries. Dr. Ken Baker, Wildflower Clinic Building Committee Chair, said, "we have raised $180,000 over the past year and only $50,000 more is needed to open the doors of the Wildflower Clinic. While our needs are ongoing, support from the local construction and building trade industry and St. Johns County has been extremely gratifying. The new Wildflower Clinic will improve access to free health and dental care for all qualifying residents." Be sure to put this fun event on your calendar for next year.
